In 1956, at the peak of his creative powers, Silvestri emigrated, and once the western world had become acquainted with his conducting he developed into an important musical personality whose work is well worth remembering today. Besides Enescu's Romanian Rhapsodies - the present rendering of which, on account of Enescu's national origins, we may regard as being indeed authentic - our recording also includes works of French music, in which field Silvestri was also particularly highly respected.
