On February 10, 1961, Ella performs again to a sold-out house at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, just one year after her famous concert in Berlin. After a sober introduction of the musicians by Norman Granz, Ella enters the stage.
With the freshness of the eternal, slightly cheeky little girl, she plunges into the rhythm of 'Too Close For Comfort' with the first note. The voice calms down, she takes her audience by the hand, gently, confidently.
Ella settles on the stage as if she were in her living room. She welcomes each audience member like a privileged guest. Each piece is a glass of champagne that she pours with grace. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes joking, but mostly laughing, dynamic and catchy.
