Here is a new title in Supraphon´s ARCHIVE series, presenting several more recordings from the rich treasury of the premier Czech violinist of the second half of the 20th century, Josef Suk. This time, the collection offers a varied palette of styles reflected in works dating from the twentieth century´s first four decades, bracketed within a single formal category: namely, that of sonata, in structural terms the most sophisticated genre in the history of music.
