American composer and conductor John Williams came of age at a time when the division between 'serious' and 'entertainment' music was still strict. As the child of an orchestra musician, he learned to read music at an early age and later studied composition at the University of California.
He became known as a composer for film and television productions, including close and frequent collaborations with Steven Spielberg. He created the music for such hit movies as Jaws, Star Wars, Schindler's List, Jurassic Parc and the Indiana Jones series.
This compilation of the Dallas Winds Orchestra conducted by Jerry Junkin with trumpeter Christopher Martin presents a cross-section of his work, recorded by 'Prof.' Keith Johnson.
The half-speed mastering for the 33 disc double 180g LP was done by Paul Stubblebine.
