<br><br>Here are two of Mozart’s most popular concertos, and popular with good reason, for their melodic inspiration is of the freshest, the art with which they hide their art complete. K271 can lay claim to being Mozart’s first real masterpiece. Alfred Brendel certainly thought so: he chose the concerto to end his professional career last autumn, and continued to think deeply about the piece’s sublime mix of wit and seriousness throughout his career. K467 is perhaps on a lighter level, but no less inspired for all that, and at its centre the most touching of Andante movements, which was unforgettably used in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan.
