ENGLISH

When thinking about the colours and forms that are found in Impressionist paintings, one name comes to mind when your mind wanders to music: Ravel. In your mind’s eye you can conjure up the fine brush strokes, small colourful areas and figures, little flashes of light, and delicate pastel tones. To incorporate all these perceptive notions in a recorded medium and to develop them like a good wine is an affair of the heart for the Tacet label. By using both historical and the very finest analogue recording equipment, the experts from Stuttgart create LPs of the highest quality that have never been produced in this way anywhere else in the world. But the dedicated musicians too – a far cry from the worshipped big earners in the business – perform superlatively. Seldom has one heard such finely chiselled sound colouring as that of Carlo Rizzi and the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest in the enchanting miniature "Ma Mère l’Oye". One can almost feel the impressionistic, silvery waves of the strings and the swirling opposing winds. Above all this one can hear Gordan Nikolic’s singing violin solos, which can be clearly perceived even in celestial heights and thus remain a crux of the composition.

Also on this recording is a velvety, warm orchestral version of the elegiac "Pavane pour une Infante défunte". As in the Tacet LP L207, which has been released by Speakers Corner, this record has been cut using the 'play-backwards technique' and guarantees the very best sound.

Recording: March and April 2012 at Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam, by Andreas Spreer and Roland Kistner

Production: Andreas Spreer
