'Blues And The Abstract Truth' is the triumph of
Oliver Nelson. With his all-time classic 'Stolen Moments', Nelson has put together one of the strongest sextets in modern jazz. Lead trumpeter
Freddie Hubbard is at the height of his powers, while alto saxophonists Nelson and
Eric Dolphy (Nelson doubles on tenor) form an unlikely union, honed to perfection. Bill Evans (piano),
Paul Chambers (bass) and
Roy Haynes (drums) can do no wrong as a rhythm section.
Oliver Nelson is primarily known as a big band leader and arranger, less as a saxophonist and organizer of smaller ensembles. He triumphed as a musician with 'The Blues and The Abstract Truth' and immortalized himself in jazz history with the classic 'Stolen Moments'.
In addition to Nelson, the outstanding sextet consists of trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, alto saxophonist Eric Dolphy, pianist Bill Evans, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Roy Haynes.
This title is an SHM-SACD. This format is a further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (super high material). This enables a significantly better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized from the master tapes of the albums in DSD without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player. Please do not use L'Art du Son or alcohol-based cleaning agents. - Attention: All titles are designed by Universal Music as limited edition collector's items for the Japanese market.
