The founding member of 'The Jazz Modes' and the 'Les McCann Trio', drummer Ron Jefferson, put together his own band, the 'Ron Jefferson Choir', during his stay in Paris in the mid-1960s. This album recording was offered to him by Polydor International after he was able to play a series of concerts in his home country of Senegal alongside successful performances in Paris. The influence of the trip is evident, for example, in the great track 'Africa The Beautiful', where Jefferson can be heard playing the flute and Senegalese percussion.
