<br><br>Robert Schumann (1810-1856) is known for his revolutionary piano works (his first 23 opus numbers are exclusively for the piano), his romantic symphonies and concertos, and his abundant output of Lieder. These choral works recorded here show an other side of Schumann: intimate, ironic, even bourgeois, are the characteristics which come to mind. <br /> <br /> These choral cycles are on texts of romantic poets like Emanuel Geibel, Robert Burns, Friedrich Schiller, Friedrich Rückert and others.
